New Dacia model Dokker to be launched this autumn at the Paris Motor Show

12 February 2012

German website Auto.freenet.de recently revealed that Romanian car maker Dacia, owned by French Renault, is secretly working on a new model in Tanger,  a city in northern Morocco.  The name of this new car will be Dacia Dokker. It will be built on the platform of a Renault car, namely Kangoo Express (in photo), and it will take over many aspects of design and engine. The utility version of the Dacia Dokker will be launched at the Paris Motor Show this autumn.

The new Dacia model will be cheaper than the Lodgy - another model that Dacia plans to launch in the near future- and it will come with fewer standard features.

Renault inaugurated Thursday in Tangier, Morocco, a new factory where it will produce three new Dacia models designed especially for the Western European market. In addition to the Lodgy model and an utility car derived from it, Renault will produce a third model, which will be a passenger vehicle.

The first factory assembly line is already in place, with a capacity of 170,000 cars built annually and it is expected to reach 400,000 units in 2015, when the production unit will have 6,000 employees.
