Which is the most visited city in Romania’s Central Region?

Brasov County was in May the most visited tourist destination in Romania’s Central Region, according to data from Brasov County Department of Statistics.

Brasov ranks first with a share of 39.6%, followed by Mures with 21.8%, Sibiu (18.5%), Alba (7.7%), Harghita (7.6%), and Covasna (4.7%) counties. In terms of overnight stays, Brasov County also comes first in the Central Region, with a share of 36.5%, reports local Agerpres.

Brasov, Poiana Brasov, and Predeal are the most visited cities of Brasov county. Tourists spent an average of 2.1 days in these cities.

More tourists visited Brasov in May this year. Their number increased by 8.7% year-on-year while the number of foreign tourists went up by 11.4%. Over 66% of the foreigners came from Europe, 22.8% from Asia, 8.3% from North America, and 2.7% from other countries and areas.

The main countries of origin are Israel (over 2,100 tourists), Germany (almost 2,000 tourists), the US (1,038), Poland (961), Italy (893), France (833), Bulgaria (806), the UK (791), Japan (779), and Spain (592).

More than half of the tourists preferred 3-star hotels, 29.2% chose 4-star hotels, and almost 10% stayed at 2-star hotels.
