More tourists visit the Bran Castle and Rasnov Citadel in central Romania

The tourist attractions located in central Romania, namely the Bran Castle, the Rasnov Citadel, and the Black Church in Brasov attracted more tourists last year. Together, the three touristic objectives had more than 1.2 million visitors in 2015.

The Bran Castle, also known as Dracula’s Castle, ranks first among the three tourist attractions in Romania, as it registered more than 602,000 visitors last year. In 2014, the castle had over 550,000 visitors, according to castle representative Alexandru Priscu, reports local Agerpres.

Rasnov Citadel comes next with 363,000 visitors in 2015, up from 241,000 the previous year. Adrian Vestea, the mayor of Rasnov, expects the citadel to attract 500,000 visitors per year in the following years. American luxury and lifestyle travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler included the citadel on a list of 10 beautiful snow castles in the world.

Some 250,000 tourists also visited the Black Church in 2015, the main attraction of Brasov mountain resort. The number increased from 210,000 in 2014.

The Fagaras Citadel also became more popular among tourists. The number of visitors increased from 55,000 in 2014 to more than 100,000 in 2015.
