More than 90 artists, including foreign composers, want to represent Romania at the 2016 Eurovision

09 February 2016

More than 90 songs have made it in Romania’s National Selection for this year’s Eurovision song contest.

Both local singers and foreign composers from Sweden, Germany, the UK, USA, Spain, Italy, and Poland hope to represent Romania at the 2016 edition of the event. All registrations had to be submitted by February 7.

Next, a jury will make a selection of the songs. They will choose 12 songs that will compete in the national semifinal on March 4. Two days later, on March 6, Romania will choose the song that will represent it at Eurovision, in a final to take place at Baia Mare, in northern Romania.

Eurovision will take place in Stockholm this year. The semifinals will be organized on May 10 and May 12 while the final is scheduled for May 14. Romania will compete in the second semifinal.

Voltaj represented Romania at the 2015 Eurovision with the song All over again / De la capat, ranking 15th in the final organized in Vienna, Austria.
