Mio Technology expects Romanian GPS market up 10% this year

The GPS navigation devices manufacturer Mio Technology sold last year over 20,000 navigational equipments in Romania, thus recording a market share of approximately 34 percent, according to the company. In 2011, the Mio Technology representatives expects a growth on the Romanian GPS equipment market of up to 10 percent and also an increase in market share to around 40 to 45 percent after launching a new range of GPS equipment. The growth will depend on an increase in consumption and on a higher portion of the budged dedicated to tourism.

According to Mio Technology representatives, producers will try to include increasingly more value added services in the sale of GPS equipment. “In addition to an increase of pricing aggresion, in 2010 we could see a more attention to added ​​services”, said Laura Samson, Mio Technology Country Director in Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The average price for a Mio GPS device was of EUR 180 per equipment in 2010.

Mio Technology was founded in May 2002 and has operations in Taiwan, China, Europe, North America, Australia, Japan and South Korea.
