Maltese group becomes owner of McDonald’s Romania

25 January 2016

McDonald’s Romania has changed its shareholders this weekend. The Maltese group Premier Capital will take over the local business from the US giant, reports local Ziarul Financiar.

McDonald’s has 67 restaurants in Romania and a turnover of about EUR 100 million.

The US group has been searching for a partner in Romania since the summer of 2015, as the local market is too small for direct involvement.

For Premier Capital, Romania becomes the sixth market where the company holds the McDonald’s franchise. It will also be the largest market. By comparison, all the other five countries where it operates have some 60 McDonald’s restaurants.
