Lear Corporation to open automotive seating plant in the Romanian city of Iasi

US car parts manufacturer Lear Corporation will open a new car seating manufacturing unit in Iasi, northeastern Romania, in January 2014. The company’s new facility will employ about 1,500 people.

The new plant will be the forth unit Lear Corporation run in Romania, where the company focuses on Pitesti and Campulung.

Headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, Lear Corporation is a supplier of automotive seating and electrical power management systems.

The company, traded on the New York Stock Exchange, is present in 36 countries and employs around 115,000 people.

For the third quarter of 2013, Lear reported sales of USD 3.9 billion, up from USD 3.5 billion reported for the same period the previous year, and net income of USD 113 million.
