How much did KFC and Pizza Hut invest in their new restaurants in Mega Mall?

American fast food chain KFC and restaurant chain Pizza Hut have invested a total of EUR 770,000 to open new units in the new Mega Mall shopping center that opens in Bucharest on May 14.

KFC has invested EUR 350,000 in a new 175 sqm location and will employ 50 people. Pizza Hut allotted a EUR 420,000 budget for its new restaurant that will have 229 sqm and 35 employees, according to Monica Eftimie, Chief Marketing Officer for KFC and Pizza Hut.

With the new openings, KFC reaches 54 units in Romania and Pizza Hut has 16 restaurants.

The two restaurant chains are part of the American group Yum! Brands. Romanian businessman Gabriel Popoviciu owns the KFC and Pizza Hut franchises in Romania.

US Food Network, the firm that holds the KFC franchise in Romania, had a turnover of EUR 47.5 million in 2013. American Restaurant System, which operates the Pizza Hut restaurants, had EUR 27.7 million sales in the same year. The two companies had more than 2,100 employees together.
