Draft: Judges responsible after ECHR judgments against Romania
The Romanian state should take action right away against the local judges who made legal mistakes out of bad faith or negligence, leading to European Court for Human Rights’ judgments against Romania.
This is what a group of senators from various political parties proposed in a draft law, reports local Mediafax.
If the state paid a claim following a final decision, it would address the responsible judge or prosecutor with an action for damages.
The Romanian state paid claims of over EUR 43 million between 1987 and 2014, after losing cases to ECHR.
