Investment fund to exit Romanian Bitdefender
Investment fund manager Axxess Capital is currently negotiating the sale of its minority stake in the antivirus technology producer Bitdefender, according to market sources, cited by Mirsanu.ro.
The Talpes family, who founded Bitdefender, could also sell a stake in the company. However, the transaction does not involve a majority stake in the company.
The sale process is quite advanced, sources say.
An investment bank has stepped in and the company has already started negotiations with potential buyers. Silicon Valley-based investment funds could be interested in the takeover.
This could be largest IT transaction in the last years, amounting to tens of millions of euro.
In 2007, Axxess Capital bought a 7% stake in Bitdefender for USD 7 million.
