07 October 2015

Dutch banking group ING wants to triple the number of employees within its Centre of Excellence in Romania. It will also bring to Bucharest the international hackathon 24H-CodING, dedicated to IT specialists and students, which has been organized only in Amsterdam until now.

The bank currently has 120 employees in its Centre of Excellence in Bucharest, but wants to reach up to 500 IT specialists.

“We’ve realized three, four years ago that technology has become extremely important and we’ve changed the technical skills, the way we work, and we’ve adopted the new technologies,” said Ron van Kemenade, Chief Information Officer (CIO) of ING Bank, cited by local Wall-street.ro.

He added that the bank’s biggest challenge was to convince developers and programmers in Romania that ING was one of the best places to work as an IT specialist.
