ING Life Insurance wants premiums up in Romania

16 July 2014

Insurance company ING Asigurari de Viata (Life Insurance) registered a growth of over 7 percent in the volume of written premiums in the first quarter of 2014 and expects this upward trend to continue until the end of the year, according to the company’s general manager, Marius Popescu, quoted by Agerpres.

The company’s market share also increased to over 38 percent, from 34 percent at end-2013. Popescu said that the Romanian life insurance market will grow on long term above the pre-crisis level.

But in order to reach a share of GDP similar to that of other countries in the region such as Hungary, Poland or the Czech Republic, annual increases of over 10 percent would be needed.
