IBM could open research center in Targu Mures, Romania

US company IBM company could open a new research center in Targu Mures, central Romania, the company's 11th worldwide center.  IBM executive director Spiros Teleoglou and IBM Research executive director Christos J. Georgiou paid a visit to Targu Mures last week and talked about this possibility with the city hall representatives. A memorandum of understanding between IBM Reasearch and the Targu Mures City Hall will be signed in February, according to Targu Mures city hall representatives.

The IBM representatives stressed the fact that the process of choosing the centre's location is very thorough and the selection of Romania and Targu Mures was made by taking into account the medicine and pharmacy tradition, the great results within the research field, the quality of the higher education, the important projects that are locally implemented and expended afterwards, mainly those in partnership with the SMURD service (Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication) and the Ministry of Health.
