Hollywood actor Nick Mancuso to appear as guest of honor at Romanian event

Hollywood actor Nick Mancuso will be the guest of honor at this year’s edition of Gala “Star” International Festival of Dramatic Recital organized by Bucovia Municipal Theater in Bacau between April 4 and April 8, 2014.

The American actor of Italian origin will hold the recital The Death of Socrates on April 7, at 21:00. He will also be part of the festival’s jury, along with directors Alexander Hausvater and Laurentiu Damian.

Nick Mancuso is not only a highly acclaimed theater, film and television actor, but a writer, teacher and producer as well, who has received important artistic awards in Canada, and winner of the New York Film Festival, for the film The Last Gamble.

As a drama teacher, he promotes his own teaching system based on his book Acting (Is) For Everyone.

In his over 40 years of acting, Mancuso has worked in 12 countries, and performed in three languages.

He was born Nicodemo Antonio Massimo Mancuso in Italy in 1948 and left with his family for Toronto, Canada, in 1955.

He started his acting career in mid-60s as founding member of many underground theaters in Toronto, such as Toronto Free Theatre, Canadian Stage, Factory Lab Theatre and Theatre Pass Muraille.

In 1979 he worked with one of America’s greatest playwrights, Tennessee Williams, for Tiger Tail and Night of the Iguana in Atlanta, Georgia.

He then worked for all major studios in Hollywood.

His many actor awards include the Genie Award - Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for the film Ticket to Heaven, Best Actor - Houston Film Festival, Best Supporting Actor - New York International Independent Film Festival, and the Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Italian Film Festival (Canada).
