Two-thirds of Romanian high school graduates pass the Baccalaureate exam

Some 66.7% of the high school graduates in Romania who took the Baccalaureate exam this summer managed to pass it, according to local Mediafax.

Over 161,000 students finished high school this year, but only 71% of them (115,000) have registered for the Baccalaureate exam. The share of those who took the exam was lower than last year, when 76% of those who finished high school also took the exam.

In total, more than 137,300 students registered for the first session of the Baccalaureate this year, including students who finished high school in previous years but didn't take the exam of failed to pass it.

Over 86,200 passed the Baccalaureate, and a total of 56 students got perfect scores (10).

 

The highest Baccalaureate passing rates were registered in Cluj county (83%), followed by Bacau (80%), Brasov (78%), Sibiu (78%), and Galati (78%). In Bucharest, 68.5% of students passed the exam.

The figures might change slightly after the complaints are solved. The candidates who were not happy with their grades had four hours to file their complaints on Tuesday, between 16:00 and 20:00. The final results of the exam are to be announced on Saturday, July 16.

Those who failed the exam can try again in the second session.

Last year, 66.4% of the students passed the Baccalaureate in the summer session, according to data presented before the complaints. The admission rate increased to nearly 68% after the complaints were solved.
