Romania's governing coalition to decide today on the turnover tax

17 July 2017

Romania’s Governing coalition PSD-ALDE will decide today the fate of the recently proposed tax on companies’ turnover, reports local Mediafax.

Prime Minister Mihai Tudose recently said at a meeting with the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker that the Government would not apply this tax. However, the Social-Democrat president Liviu Dragnea later added that he didn’t know what the Prime Minister said, and that the governing coalition would discuss about this tax on Monday (today).

Dragnea also said that he hasn’t received any simulation regarding the turnover tax.

The new governing program, presented by the PSD-ALDE coalition at the end of June, provided that the current 16% tax on company profits will be replaced with a tax on turnover starting January 1, 2018.
