26 June 2015

Romania’s Government will discuss next Tuesday, June 30, the new schedule for the gas price liberalization, said Niculae Havrilet, president of Romania’s Energy Authority ANRE.

The Government agreed with the European Commission a new schedule for the gas price liberalization for household consumers, which provides annual price increases of RON 6 (EUR 1.3) per MWh, compared to the current quarterly increases.

The schedule will enter into force on Wednesday, July 1, when the first price hike will also take place, reports local Mediafax. The price will increase from RON 53 (EUR 11.8) per MWh, to RON 60 (EUR 13.4) per MWh, which stands for a 13% growth.

Romania made a commitment to the European Commission and the International Monetary Fund to eliminate regulated prices in gas and electricity.
