French retailer Decathlon to open two new stores in Romania

French retailer Decathlon will open new stores in two commercial centers in Romania, namely Shopping City Sibiu and Shopping City Suceava, both owned by the British investment fund Argo Real Estate Opportunities Fund (ARGO).

The new store in Shopping City Sibiu commercial center will be opened by the end of this year and will have a retail surface of 2,600 sqm. It will be the retailer’s 12th unit in Romania.

The store to be opened in Suceava will occupy a total area of 1,600 sqm and it’s expected to be the largest sporting goods store in the region.

Decathlon entered the Romanian market in 2009. The French retailer is present in over 15 countries, with over 400 stores.

Argo Real Estate Opportunities Fund is a closed-ended investment company which invests primarily in the commercial property markets of Central and Eastern Europe.

In Romania, the fund owns four retail parks, namely Shopping City Sibiu, Shopping City Suceava, Era Shopping Park Oradea and Era Shopping Park Iasi, a total rentable area of 271,000 sqm.
