French producer invests EUR 300 mln in Romania in 15 years

23 September 2015

French building materials producer Saint-Gobain has invested over EUR 300 million in the last 15 years, said Pierre-André de Chalendar, Saint-Gobain’s CEO. The company has recently invested in its glass factory in Calarasi and is currently investing in a new assembly line in its plant in Turda.

Pierre-André de Chalendar said that Romania’s construction market went through a difficult period in the last years, but starting last year, and especially since the first half of this year, the market has improved, reports local Agerpres.

The main problems in Romania relate to the weak infrastructure and the low absorption of EU funds, the Saint-Gobain CEO said. Romanians, however, have a good work spirit.
