French animation gets Anim’est 2015 trophy in Romania

French short film Yùl et le serpent / Yùl and the Snake, directed by Gabriel Harel, won the big trophy of Anim’est International Animation Film Festival in Romania. The film tells the story of Yùl, a young boy who goes with his big brother Dino to make a deal with Mike, a thug escorted by his Dogo Argentino. Things go wrong and a mysterious snake appears.

The award for Best Short Film went to Leftover, directed by Tibor Banoczki and Sarolta Szabo, while Elu Herman H. Rott’iga / Life with Herman H. Rott, directed by Chintis Lundgren, got a special mention.

The Best Feature Film award also went to a French animation – Adama, directed by Simon Rouby.

The Best Student Film award, offered by Pizza Hut, went to French short film Deux amis / Two friends, directed by Natalia Chernysheva. Three special mentions were also given to The Correct Insult directed by Janis Aschberger, Les élucubrations d'un soldat inconnu/The Wild Imaginings Of An Unknown Soldier directed by Nils Lacroix, and Electrofly directed by Natalia C. A. Freitas.

Voyage, a short film directed by Marian Poiana, won the award for the Best Romanian Film, offered by the Romania Cultural Institute.

Iranian short film Hairy Moo Moo, directed by Hadi Tabasi and Rasoul Zarrin was the winner of the Minimest section. Also, the Audience Award went to German short film Roadtrip, directed by Xavier Xylophon.

Carmen, the videoclip for the song played by Belgian artist Stromae, won the big prize of the Music Video section.

The award ceremony took place at Elvire Popesco Cinema in Bucharest, on October 10. The tenth edition of Anim’est started on October 2 in Bucharest. Between October 29 and November 1, the festival will return to Chisinau, the capital of the Republic of Moldova, for the fifth consecutive year.
