Franklin Templeton offers Romanian investors direct access to funds managed by Mark Mobius

Franklin Templeton Investment Management, which manages the Romanian Fondul Proprietatea, has increased the range of its activities in Romania beyond the management of the Proprietatea fund and will allow Romanian investors to invest directly in one of the 11 Franklin Templeton open investment funds registered in Luxembourg. Some of these funds are managed by renowned investment guru Mark Mobius (in picture).

The funds, part of the Franklin Templeton Investment Funds (FTIF) - Société d’Investissement à capital variable (SICAV), which is registered in Luxembourg, will allow Romanians access to investments on markets like China, India, Brazil, according to the company.

The funds made available for the Romanian market are Franklin High Yield Fund, managed by Betsy Hofman, Franklin India Fund, managed by Stephen Dover, Franklin Natural Resources Fund, managed by Frederick Fromm, Stephen Land & Matt Adams, Franklin Technology Fund, managed by JP Scandalios, Franklin Templeton Global Fundamental Strategies Fund, managed by Tony Coffey & Brent Smith, Franklin US Total Return Fund, managed by Roger Bayston & Kent Burns, Templeton Asian Growth Fund, managed by Mark Mobius, Templeton BRIC Fund, managed by Mark Mobius, Dennis Lim & Tom Wu, Templeton China Fund, managed by Mark Mobius, Templeton Global Bond Fund, managed by Michael Hasenstab, Templeton Global Total Return Fund, managed by Michael Hasenstab.

These funds have no connection with Fondul Proprietatea, which is managed by Franklin Templeton Investment Management Limited Bucharest, having Greg Konieczny as portfolio manager. The funds will initially be available through the BRD Groupe Societe Generale network.
