Franchises make EUR 1.4 bln market in Romania

There are over 500 franchises in Romania with cumulated annual turnovers of EUR 1.4 billion, with fast food and services among the most successful turn-key businesses, according to KeysFin, quoted by Agerpres.

The franchise market in Romania in 2013 stood at some EUR 1.3 billion, and consumption revival in the second part of this year will add EUR 100 million to this amount. The average investment into a franchise business is of EUR 10,000, according to specialists.

The biggest growth potential is seen for HORECA, fast-foods, pastry shops and home deliveries, where the investment is minimum and the exploitation costs are small. Among the large companies that have implemented franchise models in Romania are Metro, Elvila, Romstal, Carrefour, Subway, and even Crowne Plaza and Howard Johnson hotels.
