Sorin Eftene, the former interim general manager of Microsoft Romania, is being questioned on Tuesday (July 15) by prosecutors of the National Anticorruption Directorate DNA, in the case involving the lease of IT licenses for schools.

In this case, the prosecutors’ investigation focuses on influence peddling, abuse of office, giving and taking bribes.

According to judicial sources cited by local news agency Mediafax, Eftene was summoned by DNA to make statements in the case after the Government’s Control Unit notified prosecutors on the lease and extension of licenses for schools, for which some EUR 9 million were paid.

Last week, Ion Moraru, the head of the Government’s General Secretariat, was also questioned in this case. He said he made statements as a witness.

According to judicial sources, the investigation focuses on three contracts related to IT services, carried out between 2001 and 2013, reports Mediafax.
