Ford to reach peak capacity in Romania in 2015 and roll out B-Max model next year

13 September 2011

Ford's production unit in the Romanian city of Craiova will reach its peak production capacity in 2015 and it will start producing the B-Max model in Romania next year, said Wolfgang Schneider (in picture), Ford Europe vice-president at the Frankfurt auto show. 100,000 B-Max cars could be produced in Romania next year, depending on demand, he added. The first B-Max cars will be delivered next year and the model will be produced exclusively in Romania.

Ford, which took over the Craiova factory in 2007, should have reached a production volume of 250,000 units a year in Romania by September this year, according to the privatization contract. The company has however received the Romanian state's green light to extend the deadline to 2013.

Ford currently produces the Transit Connect car in Romania, but once production of this model will end, the car maker would add another B model to its production line in Romania.
