External debt grows 2.3% in four months in Romania, short term debt up even more

Romania's total external debt rose by 2.3 percent in the first four months of the year, to EUR 93.02 billion, compared to the end of 2010, according to data from the country's Central bank (BNR). The bulk of the debt was covered by the medium and long-term debt. The short term debt, of EUR 19.3 billion, went up by 4.7 percent during the first four months of the year.

The country managed to service 19.2 percent of its medium and long-term debt in the first four months of the year, a rate below that of 33.3 percent in the same period of 2010.
