Exhibitions, concerts, dance, theater and movies at Night of Museums in Romania this weekend

15 May 2013

Museums and cultural institutions in Bucharest and several cities across the country will remain open all night on May 18 for the ninth edition of the Night of Museums event. Exhibitions, concerts, dance and theater performances, movie screenings and other interactive events will be organized and people will be able to visit museums for free, during this year’s Night of Museums.

A total of 32 museums in Bucharest will stay open late into the night on May 18, including Bellu Museum, Regele Ferdinand I National Military Museum, National Museum of Contemporary Art, George Enescu National Museum, Museum of Maps and Old Books, Grigore Antipa Museum, National Museum of Romanian History and the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant. The cultural organizations celebrating this event for the first time this year are: the Animal Farm - which gives visitors the chance to observe the animals during the night, when the Animal Farm is usually closed, the Galateca Gallery and Romanian Design Week - Ştirbei Palace. The entire list of museums and cultural institutions open in Bucharest for the Night of Museums here.

However, Bucharest is not the only city celebrating this event. Museums in Baia-Mare will also join the event (see the list here), while during the night of May 18, museums in Cluj will await visitors with diverse exhibitions and special events (entire list of museums in Cluj here). Also, museums, religious collections and private collections will also remain open to public for the Night of Museums in Sibiu (check the list here). Several other museums and cultural institutions across the country will also remain open late into the night and celebrate the Night of Museums 2013 with various exhibitions, shows, screenings and special interactive events.
