European Funds Ministry: Romania has attracted EUR 2.4 bln in European structural and cohesion funds this year

25 October 2013

The total value of structural and cohesion funds returned this year to Romania by the European Commission reached about EUR 2.4 billion by October 22, according to the Romanian Ministry of European Funds.

“Romania has received about EUR 2.4 billion this year from the European Commission, more than in the entire period between 2007 and 2012, when our country has attracted only EUR 2.2 billion from the allocated funding,” said Eugen Teodorovici, minister of European Funds.

“This achievement is the result of the implemented measures, which ensured the resumption of payments by the European Commission for the four operational programs this year,” he added.

The Romanian minister also mentioned that Romania came first among all Member States following the 75 percent increase in reimbursements made by the Commission in the first nine months of this year, compared to the level between 2008 and 2012.
