Energy savings measures adopted between 2010 and 2014 resulted in energy savings estimated at some 918,000 tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), according to Romania’s energy regulation agency ANRE.

During that period, 886 companies carried out energy audits, following which energy investments amounted to almost EUR 1 billion (RON 4.32 billion).

In 2010, 275 energy efficiency measures led to energy savings estimated at 176,200 toe, whereas in 2014, 432 energy efficiency measures led to savings of 26,800 toe, reports local Agerpres.

The measures from 2010 were substantial, such as replacing equipment, which had a great impact on energy savings, proven by the invested amounts of EUR 368 million, according to the ANRE report.

When the number of efficiency measures increases, the energy savings decrease, as the invested amounts are lower.
