Romania's final electricity consumption was up 3.9 percent in the first 11 months of last year on the same period of the previous year, while the country exported less energy, according to the country's National Statistics Institute. The volume of exported electricity was down 9.5 percent during this period for Romania.

A country's energy consumption is one of the indicators of economic development during a certain period of time, as people tend to save energy during a recession period, thus impacting the country's energy consumption. The population used 1.8 percent more electricity, while the public lightning system used 5.5 percent less energy during the first 11 months of 2010 in Romania.
