E.ON Romania's 2010 turnover, close to previous year's level on challenging economic background

09 February 2011

E.ON Romania posted a turnover of EUR 942.3 million in 2010, comparable to the one posted the year before, according to the company. E.ON Romania sold 3.4 TWh of electricity last year, up on 3.3 TWh in 2009, while its sales of natural gas totaled 25.8 TWh – down on 26.3 TWh in 2009.

“The obvious drop in energy consumption, keeping the gas tariffs below the acquisition costs, the privileged status of some consumers and the market distortions related to the intention to create Electra and Hidroenergetica – all on the economic crisis background-, these were the main challenges E.ON had to face in 2010,” according to the company.

The company modernized 650 kilometers of natural gas distribution system last year in Romania, while expanding the network by 240 kilometers of pipes, to connect new consumers. E.ON Romania invested EUR 43.5 million in the natural gas network last year. It also invested EUR 33.3 million in the electricity distribution network in Romania.

E.ON Romania runs activities on the natural gas and electricity segments. The German company controls E.ON Energie Romania, E.ON Gas Distribution and E.ON Moldova Distribution, along with E.ON Energie Regenerabile Romania.
