Cosmetics sales reach EUR 800 mln in Romania

11 March 2015

Romanians spent last year EUR 800 million on cosmetics, up 5% over the previous year. The advance was due to the increase in online sales.

However, their share in the total cosmetics trade remains small, below 5%.

The market will grow even more in the next five years, the client will be more informed and will search for more skin care products, said Jacek Roznowicz, director of cosmetics producer Yves Rocher for South-East Europe and Africa, cited by local Ziarul Financiar.

Romania is one of the least developed markets in Europe for cosmetics sales, with an average expense per capita of EUR 40 a year and some EUR 3.3 a month.
