CEZ wind farm in Dobrogea starts energy production

03 June 2010

CEZ' wind park in Dobrogea, at Fantanele, has started producing clean energy this week when the first windmill has been started. The other 139 windmills in the project will follow by year-end. Each of the mills has an installed capacity of 2.5 MW. The wind farm has also been connected to the national power grid. Its total installed power will be of 600 MW, which is almost double compared to the biggest operational wind farm in Europe, located in Scotland.

More than 100 out of the 240 wind turbines which will be installed in Fantanele and Cogealac have already been built and need to be installed.

CEZ' project is worth EUR 1.1 billion in investment, according to the company. Construction works on the second phase of the project, in Cogealac, are expected to start this year.
