Cernavoda bridge, closed down for repairs, alternative routes set for car ride to seaside

10 January 2011

The Cernavoda bridge on the Danube-Marea Neagra flood gate will be closed down for repairs for a year, until January 2012, which will trigger a longer journey for those planning to reach the Romanian seaside by car this summer. The old alternative routes will be used, from Bucharest to Urziceni, and then from Urziceni to Constanta. Another option is the Sun Highway until Drajna and then back to national roads to Constanta. A third one is the Sun Highway until Cernavoda, then on to a national road to Stefan cel Mare locality. Either way, it will take longer to reach the seaside by car this year.
