Carpatair ups turnover to EUR 74 million in 2010

Air carrier Carpatair posted a turnover of EUR 74 million last year, up 14 percent on the year before, the company has announced. The number of passengers Carpatair transported in 2010 reached 570,000, an increase of 13 percent on 2009.

The airline's results were influenced by its expansion strategy, which started in 2009 and continued in 2010. Carpatair added two new operations bases – Craiova and Bacau last year, to the existing ones in Timisoara and Bucharest. It also opened six new routes.

Carpatair was launched in 1999 by Swiss and Romanian shareholders and started developing its hub in Timisoara in 2000. The company currently runs in 10 domestic airports and on 18 foreign airports, with 360 weekly flights on 30 routes.
