Business sector, unhappy about the Romanian Tax Authority’s measures

18 January 2016

The Coalition for Romania’s Development (CDR) considers that the measures taken by the Tax Authority ANAF on companies that wanted to register for VAT purposes were disconnected from the economic reality.

CDR, which is a private initiative that brings together the most representative business sector organizations in Romania, was referring to the form called D088 that the companies needed to fill in when they wanted to register for VAT.

According to CDR, ANAF demanded for this form a large amount of information in a very short time. Most of this information was not relevant to the company’s ability to pay the VAT. ANAF introduced this form in February last year.

The Tax Authority’s president Gelu Diaconu has replied that the measure was necessary to combat tax evasion and help the Government continue the fiscal relaxation.
