Buildings that need thermal insulation in Romania would make EUR 7 billion market

11 October 2011

There are over 250 million sqm of buildings that should be thermo insulated in Romania, which would make a market of EUR 7 billion, according to Tiberiu Andrioaiei, General Secretary of the Expanded Polystyrene Manufacturers Association in Romania - Romeps. “At this point, if all manufacturers of expanded polystyrene in Romania would work at full capacity, 20 years would be needed in order for this project to be completed nationally,” he added.

Romania ranks among last at a European level in terms of consumption of expanded polystyrene. The Expanded Polystyrene Manufacturers Association in Romania – Romeps launches this year the “Quality control” program that aims to control the quality of the expanded polystyrene sold on the Romanian market.

The Expanded Polystyrene Manufacturers Association in Romania was established in 2004. From 2011, the association works as Romeps.

Municipalities across Romania have started to insulate blocks of flats with state funds, which has brought additional projects and revenues for PVC windows and Polystyrene manufacturers.
