Bucharest park hosts Romania’s largest international folklore festival this weekend

Cismigiu Park in Bucharest will host a new edition of Music and Traditions in Cismigiu International Folklore Festival this weekend. Over 2,000 artists, orchestras, brass bands, folk groups, and craftsmen will gather downtown Bucharest between June 19 and June 21 for Romania’s largest folklore festival.

The event kicks off on Friday, June 19, 15:00, with a parade of Romanian and international folk costumes which will follow the route Romanian Athenaeum - Calea Victoriei - Cercul Militar National - Regina Elisabeta blvd. - Cismigiu Park.

The artistic program will continue on the two stages located in the park: the main stage and the Fan Zone stage. Over 2,000 artists will perform on the main stage, located on the lawn in front of the Monte Carlo restaurant.

Folk groups from Romania, Serbia, Armenia, India, and the Republic of Moldova will bring their music to Cismigiu park this weekend. The main stage’s program also includes performances of well-known Romanian folk artists such as Gelu Voicu, Dinu Iancu Salajanu, Maria Ciobanu, Floarea Calota, Cornelia and Lupu Rednic, and Nicolae Furdui Iancu.

Meanwhile, Nightlosers, Mihai Margineanu, Fantome, Argatu', K-LU, Ad-Hoc, Danaga, Steaua de Mare, Tapinarii, Mihai Toma, TRI, Domino Sibiu, Cobzality, and Balako Balkansambel will reinterpret folklore at the Fan Zone stage.

Hand-made products, handicrafts, workshops, and traditional foods are also part of the festival’s program.

The festival will stay open between 10:00 and 22:00 and the entry is free. Find the complete program here.
