Another private CEO for state company resigns: Manager of CFR Marfa steps down via e-mail

14 May 2014

Just one month after being named at the helm of railway freight company CFR Marfa, Dan Valentin Belcea, the second private manager for this state company, resigned, via e-mail. This is another failure for the program ‘Private CEO for state companies’, which has been running anything but well at any of the companies included in the scheme, according to Ziarul Financiar.

Meanwhile, employees of the Romanian Post, another state –owned company, have started street protests, asking for the CEO’s resignation. At airline Tarom, another state company, the board was changed after only six months.

At CFR Marfa, the resignation comes as the company is trying to make a profit via restructuring as the state plans to privatize it sometime in 2015, after the failed privatization attempt in 2013.
