Romania’s Enescu Competition returns with new edition in September, tickets now on sale

The 2016 edition of the George Enescu International Competition will take place at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest between September 3 and September 25.

The event will bring to Bucharest some of the most promising young talents of the moment, as well as renowned musicians, laureates of the competition.

Starting this year’s edition, the event will be organized with a new concept, and the Romanian Athenaeum will host 19 concerts and recitals.

A gala concert will open the George Enescu Competition on September 3. The event will then continue with three extraordinary recitals given by acclaimed musicians, jury members of each section of instruments: David Geringas (cello) – with Ian Fountain at the piano, on September 7, Florin Croitoru (violin) – with Verona Maier at the piano, on September 16, and Peter Donohoe (piano), on September 22.

The program also includes three special recitals given by the winners of the competition’s previous edition.

All the stages of the competition will be open to the public.

The subscriptions and tickets for the 2016 edition of the George Enescu International Competition have been put up for sale on March 7, through the Eventim network (eventim.ro and the offline points of sale). Tickets cost between RON 20 and RON 50 while subscriptions cost RON 300 and RON 400.

The participation at the Competition’s Stage I, which will take place at the Bucharest Music University, is free of charge.
