UniCredit report: Bad loans to go down by 3% in Romania

Romania's banking sector will return to profit this year while bad loans will decrease by 3%, from 14.4% to 11.4%, according to UniCredit’s CEE Banking Study 2015 report, cited by local Ziarul Financiar.

The Return on Assets (ROA) ratio will reach 0.3% in 2015, compared to a negative level of -0.6% estimated for last year. The ROA ratio is calculated by comparing net income to average total assets, and is expressed as a percentage.

According to UniCredit’s analysts, the total loans granted by Romanian banks will increase by 0.1% this year, after an estimated 3.6% drop in 2014.Bank deposits will go up 3%, the same as last year.

UniCredit is one of the top five players in the Romanian banking sector.
