Romania’s exports slightly increased in February, by 1.2% year-on-year, reaching EUR 4.39 billion. Meanwhile, imports went up by 2.6%, to EUR 4.77 billion. This led to a trade deficit of EUR 384 million, up EUR 68.8 million over February 2014, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

Compared to January, exports rose by 4.9%, whereas imports went up by 9.4%.

In the first two months of the year, Romania exported EUR 8.57 billion worth of products and services, up 3.6% year-on-year. The country imported some EUR 9.13 billion, up 3.3% year-on-year. For the first two months of the year, the country’s trade deficit amounted to EUR 563.3 million, down EUR 4.7 million year-on-year.

Romania exported EUR 6.35 billion to the EU in the two months and imported EUR 7.1 billion of products and services. Meanwhile, trade with countries outside the EU amounted to EUR 2.22 billion for exports and EUR 2.03 billion for imports.
