Tobacco producer JTI appoints new general manager for Romania, Moldova and Bulgaria

Mark Rock is the new general manager of JTI Romania, Moldova and Bulgaria starting April this year. He is replacing Charlie Cunningham-Reid, who will lead JTI’s Corporate Affairs & Communications department in the UK.

Rock has an experience of 28 years in the tobacco industry. He joined Gallaher’s Sales and Marketing department in the UK back in 1987, where he held several positions over the years. In 2007, JTI took over Gallaher and five years later, in 2012, Mark Rock was named to lead the Key Accounts, Category Management & Channel Planning department in Geneva.  Later, he also led the Corporate Trade Marketing department in Geneva. “JTI has entered the third decade in Romania: we came here to stay and develop the business so we’ll continue to invest in our brands, our people and the factory. We’ll continue to work with the authorities in a constructive and transparent manner for a stable legislative and fiscal environment and to combat cigarette smuggling,” said the new general manager.

JTI started it activity on the local market in 1993. In 2012, JTI Romania invested EUR 25 million in its Bucharest factory and increased its team.

Two years later, in 2014, the company also completed its new headquarters in Bucharest. The building is located near the factory and covers 5,000 sqm.

JTI Romania, a member of Japan Tobacco group, currently has some 1,000 employees.
