Three times lower profit for Romanian nuclear energy producer

Romanian state-owned energy producer Nuclearelectrica, which runs the Cernavoda nuclear power plant, recorded last year an operating income of EUR 408.5 million, down 12% over 2013.

It also posted a net profit of EUR 30.8 million, three times lower compared to the previous year, according to the producer’s data.

By comparison, the company had in 2013 an operating profit of EUR 450 million and a net profit of EUR 95 million.

The operating expenses increased by 2%, reaching EUR 360 million. The EBITDA profit went down last year to EUR 136.4 million, from EUR 201 million in 2013.

The financial results for 2014 are preliminary and unaudited.

The Romanian state controls Nuclearelectrica via the Energy Ministry.
