Telecom operators in Romania negotiate strategic alliances

04 February 2015

Telecom operators Orange, Vodafone, Telekom and RCS&RDS have engaged in negotiations in the last eight months to close strategic alliances.

They want to use and develop networks together. That would allow them to launch fixed services (Orange and Vodafone) or join the 3G and 4G network (RCS&RDS, Telekom).

They want to share investments with a competitor and share the use of assets they already control, instead of investing ten of millions of euro on their own.

Three scenarios have come up, according to sources on the market: Orange- Telekom alliance, Vodafone - Telekom or Vodafone - RCS&RDS, reports local Ziarul Financiar.

Orange and Vodafone also analyze the possibility to build together their infrastructure for the fixed services areas.

The four telecom operators could make a decision in a few months.
