State wants to privatize Romanian Post, former Romtelecom

08 February 2016

The Communications Ministry could re-start this year the privatization of the Romanian Post.

However, the Ministry first needs to complete a strategic plan and identify the financing resources that are necessary to develop the company, said the Communications Minister Marius Bostan, reports local Agerpres.

The state also wants to sell its stake in Telekom Communication Romania, the former telecom company Romtelecom, but only after increasing the value of its shares. The Communications Ministry hasn’t yet chosen the privatization method for the telecom company.

Romtelecom has a huge potential, Bostan said.

“We would like to list the company, we want the company to be more transparent,” the Minister added.

The state still has a 46% in the Telekom Communication Romania. Telekom Romania Communications is 54% owned by Deutsche Telekom via Greek group OTE.
