The Chamber of Deputies’ legal committee on Tuesday, February 10, approved the draft legislation that enables slot machines to function legally only in casinos and within the agencies of the Romanian Lottery.

A group of 100 MPs submitted in March last year a draft proposal that bans slot machines from any other location except for casinos and Lottery agencies.

The MPs said this measure could help reduce the gambling addiction which has turned into a big problem in Romania, reports local Mediafax.

According to the draft proposal, a company can run a minimum of 50 slot machines, in the same location or in different places.

The Senate earlier rejected this draft legislation.
