At the beginning of the economic crisis, in 2008, a studio apartment in a not so highly-rated area of Bucharest, such as Rahova, was up to rent with EUR 200 a month.

Nowadays however, on the same budget, one can live right in the center of Bucharest.

An analysis conducted by Imobiliare.ro reveals that a similar situation can be been in other major cities across Romania.

In the central area of the capital city, owners ask monthly rents between EUR 190 and EUR 200 for a studio apartment. For example, that is the rent for a 22 sqm housing unit in a building from 1940 located on Magheru Boulevard.

In the case of two-bedroom apartments, the prices start from EUR 200 per month, according to the analysis. For example, this is the price asked for a 70 sqm housing unit located at the first floor of an old building in the central Universitate area.

In the central area of Timisoara, Western Romania, the rents for studio apartments start from EUR 160 per month, while for two-bedroom apartments, the minimum level is EUR 200.

In Romania’s seaside resort Constanta, the prices rent for a studio apartment located in the center of the city starts from EUR 180 a month. The same rent is also asked for an old apartment with two bedrooms and an area of 45 sqm.

In Cluj-Napoca, a studio apartment located in the center can be rented for a minimum of EUR 200, while for a two-bedroom apartment, the rent starts at EUR 250 per month, shows the analysis.
