Selgros enters Romanian tourism market

Local retailer Selgros Cash&Carry has entered the Romanian tourism market by launching a touristic platform called Selgros Travel, in partnership with German tourism agency TUI, which will operate the platform.

The Selgros Travel platform presents ten tourist packages to various destinations each month and tourists are able to make hotel reservations around the world through this platform, according to the company.

For starters, Romanians can find on the new platform one-week stays in the Cuban resort Varadero, with prices starting from EUR 999 per person. Other offers include stays on the Greek island of Santorini in September at EUR 399, a New Year's Eve in Dubai at EUR 999 or a circuit in Tuscany at the end of September at EUR 559.

Selgros Cash&Carry owns 21 stores in Romania. Its turnover amounted to EUR 732 million last year, up 12.3% year-on-year. The net profit dropped by 41.5% to EUR 5.6 million in 2016.

Selgros is the second local retailer that has entered the tourism segment after Lidl, which started selling holiday packages in June 2016.
