Romania’s population to drop to 17.8 mln in 2050

Romania’s population is aging and continues the downward trend, according to a research conducted by Allianz International Pensions.

“United Nation statistics (Population Division, 2012 Revision) estimates that the average age of the Romanian population will reach almost 49 in 2050 (forecast made taking into account the average fertility rate), from 40 years in 2015. In addition, according to the same projections made by the UN, in terms of number, Romania’s population will be of 17.8 million people in 2050, reaching 12.6 million in 2100,” the research reveals, cited by local Agerpres.
