Romania's Ministry of Energy to pay EUR 3.4 mln for land expropriation

The Romanian Ministry of Energy, Small and Medium Enterprises will pay EUR 3.4 million in compensation to expropriate land and buildings.

It needs to do so for an investment the state-owned energy company Complexul Energetic Oltenia will carry out to extract lignite, reports local Mediafax.

The state will pay this year about EUR 1 million of the total amount.

The new mine would ensure an annual output of 4.5 million of lignite and is located in the Gorj county, in southwestern Romania. The investment would create 775 jobs and would decrease the electricity price, according to the Energy Minister.
